1 lb. uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined 1/2 c. orange juice 1/3 c. soy sauce 1/4 c. sherry 2 Tbsp. sugar 1/4 c. green onions 3 cloves garlic 1-1/2 Tbsp. fresh ginger 2-3 carambolas, sliced (star fruit) 1 Tbsp. cornstarch 1 Tbsp. butter
What to do:
1. Combine orange juice, soy sauce, sherry, sugar, green onion, garlic and ginger in a blender and process. Marinate the shrimp in the sauce for 1-2 hrs. 2. Strain the marinade from shrimp and reserve. Thread shrimp and carambola on skewers. 3. Grill or pan fry 2-3 min. or until opaque in center. 4. Combine cornstarch and the reserved marinade; mix well and bring to a boil. Add butter and remove from heat. Serve sauce over shrimp kabobs.
